It’s approaching the two-year anniversary of the first-ever Matchroom vs Queensberry 5vs5 and, with talk currently extremely quiet about a second fight card between the pair, we’ve taken a look at some fights that could feature on a card this year if Frank and Eddie decide to run it back.

Big-time boxing returns to Dublin this weekend as the loveable Jazza Dickens makes the first defence of his WBA World Super-Featherweight Title against the always game Anto Cacace.

When it comes to broadcasting in boxing, a majority of the big players globally have had a crack at it. From HBO to Sky Sports to ESPN to ITV, they’ve all, at some point, dipped their toe into the water. But in recent times, it’s been the new kids on the block taking over. With ESPN not renewing their deal with Top Rank and Sky Sports not renewing their deal with Boxxer, DAZN and Netflix have quickly stepped forward as the two big players in boxing broadcasting.

The big one is nearly here. Two of the greatest fighters of this generation going toe-to-toe in Sin City in their bid to go down in the history books as one of the sports greats. 

“Everyone is beatable” is a cliché often used in boxing, and the majority of the time it’s pretty accurate. Only legends like Joe Calzaghe, Andre Ward, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Rocky Marciano have retired without a blemish on their record.

Rematches are part and parcel of boxing these days. Whether we like them or not, in many big fights there’s a rematch clause. In rare cases, like this one, there wasn’t a rematch clause — but the demand for the two fighters to run it back is just as powerful as any signed piece of paper.

It’s the fight that many believed we would never see and many believed was impossible to make. Two pound-for-pound generational greats putting it all on the line in their bid to be the undisputed super-middleweight champion of the world.
